A micrometer is a precision dimensional measuring instrument used to determine small dimensions and verify tight measurement tolerances with a high degree of accuracy. Micrometers are widely used in automotive manufacturing, machinery production, metalworking, defense industries, aerospace, mold manufacturing, and quality control processes. Verifying whether manufactured components comply with the dimensions specified in technical drawings depends on reliable measurement results. Micrometer calibration is the process of verifying the measurement accuracy of the instrument using traceable reference standards and evaluating the results obtained.
